Frequently Asked Questions About the Applicants on Line Site

(For Instructionally Licensed Staff)

Q:  I entered my profile and email address. But have not received my logon and password. What is wrong?
You should get a password back in less than an hour. Therefore, you must have entered your email address incorrectly. Your email address must include the full address. For example, fredk92188@aol.com. Don’t just enter the fredk92188 part of the address. Solution-- email the database manager to see if your profile is listed. Also, you can enter a new (second) profile with the proper email and ask the database manager to remove the first one. Click on Applicant Sign Up again.

Q: How do I change information on my profile after I’ve entered it?
Click on Applicant Log In and enter your full email name and password at the dialog box. Note: no one else can see your password, not even the database manager. At your profile, make the changes and then click on the Update button. You may have to scroll a bit to see it.

Q: How do I apply electronically for a job?
Some Districts search the database for candidates by entering the job numbers of jobs they have posted on the MASA Jobsite.  You cans how your interest in a specific job by entering up to 10 job numbers in your applicant profile.  MASA job numbers are found at the Minnesota Jobsite Online.  Show your interest in a specific job by entering your profile and typing in the number in one of the job posting fields and then click on update.  You may enter several jobs.  No notification is made, but when a district searcher finds you profile by entering their job posting number as a search criteria they will be presented with your profile and your email address.

Q: I have no Minnesota teaching license. Can I still enter my profile?
Yes. You should also show the areas you are licensed in as closely as you can to Minnesota license areas. Do apply for a Minnesota license as soon as possible. Districts may wish to see your canceled application check prior to seriously considering your employment.

Q: I hold an administrator’s license. Do I post my profile here?
Yes. We advertise to districts that administrators have their profiles and documents online with MASA. Also, counselors, social workers, nurses and other licensed staff.

Q: I got a job. How do I remove my profile from the database?
Notify the database manager to delete your profile. You may reenter one later.

Q: Does it cost me anything to register my profile?
No, districts support this site by paying a fee to be able to search the database. There is no charge to instructionally licensed staff. The only charge would be for putting your additional documents online for viewing via ReferenceNow. That would cost approximately $2.00 per month.

Q: What is a MASA Jobsite Posting Number?
A posting number may be found at the site where districts post job openings and descriptions of those jobs. Applicants must go to the Minnesota Jobsite Online and perform a search. Write down the full job numbers of those jobs you wish to apply for (must have an 'E' in front of the number). Reenter your profile and post up to 10 jobs.

Q: What is my Minnesota License File Folder Number?
The Minnesota Department of Education provides all instructional license applicants with a file folder number when a formal application is received. This number is used by MASA to call up an applicant’s license image from the MDE server . It shows the name, date, expiration date and license areas of the applicant. Districts use this to determine initial formal qualifications.
