MASA DISTRICT SEARCHER GUIDELINES

Use the fields below as a guide as you enter your job requirements on the system. For the broadest search, which will result in the highest number of applicants, enter criteria only one sorting field. For example, select only the license function code/descriptions that are required for your position from the drop down boxes, then click on the search button at the bottom of the page. This single search criteria will allow you to view the records of all who possess that license. Each additional sorting field you add will further narrow your pool of candidates.
Sorting Field Description Instructions on using this Field
MASA Jobsite posting# If you are searching for the applicants that have responded to your MASA posting, enter the unique Job Posting Number and then scroll down to the bottom of the page to click on search. Only the applicants in the pool who are responding to the posting will be viewable. You may add other criteria and submit the search again to further narrow your pool of candidates. If you wish to sort all candidates in the pool (including those unaware of your posting) leave this field blank.
Minnesota License Function Code and Description Select your required license function code/description from the drop down box. If the position requires an additional license(s), click them into the two other boxes. Candidates must have all of your choices to be selected.
Curricular and Extra Curricular Activity Approximately 170 activity areas, both curricular and extra curricular, may be used to sort applicants. There are three drop down boxes with an alphabetical listing of these areas. Use the arrow to open the box and click on any activities that meet your job requirements. Candidates must have at least one of your choices to be selected. Leave this area blank if no further activity sort is necessary.
Date Available to Start If your position is an immediate vacancy, which requires candidates who are fully licensed and ready to start a position at an unusual point in the school year, enter the two digit month, the two digit day, and the four digit year that your position requires. Leave it blank if it is a traditional fall starting date.
Years of Contract Experience If years of experience is not important, leave blank. Otherwise enter minimum and maximum years experience required.
Willingness to Substitute Short Call This field may be used to build a short call substitute listing. Click to see candidates willing to substitute. You may also enter zip codes to see substitutes in your area.
Days Substituted By entering a number in this field, only those candidates who have substituted at least that many days in the current school year will be displayed.
Degree Click on all degrees that you wish to consider for the position. Leave blank if there are no constraints on the degrees the candidates possess. If a position requires only a specific degree or you prefer to view candidates with the same degree in a separate sorted batches, select only one degree and only those candidates with the selected degree will be included in your search.
GPA Overall and GPA in Major Area If GPA is not a requirement for the position, leave blank. Enter the number to two decimal points of the minimum GPA that is required.
Work Level Setting Leave blank if the student level preferences of the candidates are not of concern to you. However, if you want to view candidates by their preferences toward your school’s setting, click on all that apply: Preschool Setting; Elementary Setting; Middle School Setting; Junior High Setting; Senior High Setting.
Employment Choices If your position requires part time, partial year, or non-traditional hours, check the appropriate box. Only candidates who have indicated their willingness to accept these positions be selected. Leave blank to view candidates without regard to their personal employment choices.
Skills Candidates have self-assessed their training and development skills in many categories. If a particular category is important to your position, you can enter the minimum ranking deemed acceptable to your position. Rankings are one through five:

1.- Limited. No knowledge about the concept.
2.- Read about. No application of the concept in an educational setting.
3.- Reasonable Understanding. Initial application in the classroom or educational setting.
4.-Extensive Application. Have used regularly in the classroom or educational setting.
5.-Expert. Have led educators, school or district training on this concept.
